He noticed just how quiet she was, and that was making him a bit nervous as well. He could handle all these screams, that's not what was bothering him at all- what was making him uncomfortable was knowing that she was afraid of all this, just trying to block it out as they continued to walk.

"You know it's not so bad," Amakusa started, he wanted to try and make some jokes to get her to stop being so afraid, "we could put up a couple sets of curtains here and there and... a vacuum for all this sand- and it would be pretty cozy if you ask me."

He turned to look back at her, smiling. Come on Ange, he was trying really hard here. Just listen to his ramblings and hopefully it'll make her less scared.
