...Okay he had every intention of changing back, he really did... but how could he when she was petting him like that-! Maybe he liked it when she petted him, and it was all too obvious when he stuck out his tongue, and his tail was rapidly moving back and forth.
If he transformed back right now when she was petting him though, she would be touching him, and be pretty close. As much as he wanted to embarrass her, he didn't exactly want to do it just yet. So after she continued to pet him, he reached up to her much smaller wrist- grabbed it, and pulled her away from him.
Then he took a step back, and he started to morph again, changing back into his regular human form. And since he was magic and explaining magic wasn't needed!! He still had all his clothes on, amazing. He looked down at her and let out a breath of relief.
"Haah.... and here I was worried you were going to scream when you saw me," he reached up and adjusted his hat, "...so- what do you think? I wanted you to at least know that before we made any kind of pact together."
