Amakusa and Ange had found themselves at the boathouse, and soon their journey would be over. By that, he was referring to what he was supposed to do once they arrived, but he wasn't about to go through with that mission. He was meant to be a traitor, he was meant to kill her once they arrived- and eve back in the fourth game he was the one who went through with such a thing. Was he just supposed to ensure she never lived past that day...? What a joke, what horrible furniture he was made out to be.
He was never good at following the rules though, he had fallen in love with his client- with someone he was meant to murder, and after that he would report back to the theater going witches. They liked seeing Ange suffer, so if they knew they had these feelings for one another, then that would only make things worse. They might even be pit against each other, forced to destroy the other.
As he mused to himself, he stared out at the waves of the ocean that still rose and fell near the shore he was standing at. It was a good feeling to be out here and not in there, if he was out here- it was like nothing else existed, that he wasn't meant to merely kill her. No, he wanted to stop thinking about that, and he wanted to tell her.
He wanted to tell her he was just furniture, that he was just a demonic servant- and then they would make that contract that was never fulfilled. A kiss that would contain so much more than just sealing the deal between master and familiar.

"What kind of deal?" The hatred was still thick in her voice though, it was easy to tell Ange didn't trust all of this one bit. She didn't expect much out of the answer either, not right after that witch had already said 'worthless pieces'. What, did she come here just to have some entertainment in seeing the two of them suffer..?

"...You're not going to leave here alive if you try and resist me, so there's really no point. I think I'm pretty fair actually, considering the alternative," she paused, it was more for dramatic effect than anything. "a trial if you will. The lovers in the sixth game here had theirs, it's about time you got yours. I'm going to toss you two into the worst fragment I can find. If you worms manage to crawl out of it, then I'll leave you both alone. No more interference, and let's just say... that tragedy you were supposed to befall at the island won't happen either. I'll find a nice fragment for you, one where you can be happy with your mutt in the time of 1998."
...Amakusa didn't like this, not one bit. He knew that she was lying more or less, but they didn't really have a choice. The man glanced back at her, his expression serious for once. He squeezed her hand, telling her that anything she decides- he'll be with her until the end.
no subject
But there was the squeeze of his hand and.. well, she understood what it meant. He trusted her, he relied on her, he would go along with her decision. The soft feeling of his lips on hers only seems a split second ago, and suddenly it's so clear. She wants to try for this, even if the happy ending is probably a lie, she doesn't want to throw away her chances of maybe just becoming happy together with the man she loves more than anything.
"Fine." Her voice was more firm now. Even if she was still scared, she had more forced it inside, replaced by conviction and determination. As long as she was together with him.. "Your challenge is accepted, Bernkastel..! We'll do it, so bring it on!" She made sure to keep holding on to his hand, not letting go for a single moment.
no subject
Bernkastel on the other hand, just threw her head and back and laughed at that claim. Oh yeah right, she wouldn't get out of this alive, and she would watch them try and climb back out of that fragment for all eternity. They were fools for trusting such a thing, if they died here- at least it would have been quick. With a wave of Bern's hand, the two of them were banished from this fragment, and were transported to another.
...And the next thing Amakusa knew, they were suspended in midair and were falling. It wasn't a big height to fall from, but still- he grabbed her and he broke her fall. When they hit the ground, Amakusa wasn't really harmed by it- he was furniture, something like this wouldn't phase him. He glanced around while he was lying there with her, and... he recognized this place.
"...A circle of hell..." he whispered more so to himself.
no subject
When he started mumbling - she barely heard it - she frowned at him for a moment. Circle of hell..? ... Well, if he really was a demon, he would know all about that, but still.. did Bernkastel really send them off to such a place? She hadn't expected anything along the lines of sunshine and rainbows, but directly to hell was maybe going too far.
She held her head since she still felt a bit dizzy from the sudden fall, but Ange quickly tried to look at their surroundings all the same.
no subject
"....Hah... I'm almost curious as to what her idea of a good fragment is when this is just a trial for love," Amakusa noticed that she grabbed her head and was a little dizzy, so when he stood up- he grabbed her arm and helped her to stand as well.
"I don't think we'll just have to climb out, knowing that witch she has set up some obstacles here and there, stay close to me." He grabbed her hand and the two of them began to walk through the sand, the ground made of stone- and there were ruined structures all around them. Even when he glanced up at the sky, it was an orange color, the clouds swirling around and blocking any view of above.
no subject
But even though she felt really unsettled, she didn't want to show it. If Bernkastel was watching somewhere, that would only make for more entertainment for her, after all. If she pretended like she didn't care about any of it, maybe it would be less fun for her, so she forced her usual expression on her face, trying to block everything around them out. As long as she could just hold on to Amakusa's hand like this, maybe it would be alright, he seemed to know what he was doing so maybe he would just guide them through..
Ange was awfully quiet because of all this, though, considering she had to focus so much on keeping up a strong front that she didn't even think of anything to say or talking in general, just quietly walking while holding onto his hand.
no subject
"You know it's not so bad," Amakusa started, he wanted to try and make some jokes to get her to stop being so afraid, "we could put up a couple sets of curtains here and there and... a vacuum for all this sand- and it would be pretty cozy if you ask me."
He turned to look back at her, smiling. Come on Ange, he was trying really hard here. Just listen to his ramblings and hopefully it'll make her less scared.
no subject
She idly blinked at him a few times, trying to work up the strength to just reply in her deadpan manner, but even that was hard. And with every moment that passed before she replied, she knew it would be easier and easier for him to see just how uncomfortable she was because of everything.
"What, you're planning to turn this into your personal hanging out spot..?" The idea of it was pretty deadpan, but her voice was softer than normal and it clearly lacked the usual fierceness.

When he landed, he quickly set her down and then turned to see what had just done that. He had merely sensed that killer intent, but he hadn't been able to even see what had done that. But when he saw what it was, his eyes widened. He swore under his breath, knowing that Bern would do something like this to them.
It could only be described as a deformed fallen angel, or one that looked more demon now that anything. He had wings, and he was entirely human except for the horns coming out of his head, along with what looked like hooves where his feet should be. The guy had a massive war hammer, and that spot they had been walking before- well it was like a meteor hit, the crater was so big.
Amakusa lowered himself and glared at the other demon, "...Ange-san, you still have the stakes right? Those girls might have their hands full with this one even. I'll need some backup, a distraction again before I try and take this guy out."
no subject
"Yeah. I probably could summon them all here." It had been more difficult in the real world, after all, but.. this was hell. Right where the sisters of purgatory belonged, right? She didn't worry about that, not at all, but what she was worried about-- "... Are you sure you can handle it even with that though, Amakusa?" She had seen his other form and heard him talk about his abilities, but he had never given her an estimate of how powerful exactly he was. Even though they had little choice in whether they should fight this.. this thing or not, in the middle of this creepy landscape.
no subject
With that, Amakusa had already crouched and took off into a sprint, running much quicker than any normal human could. He was fast- now that he was able to use his demon powers this was much easier than having to hide it all.
He ran in front of the angel, and it tried to swipe at him with his hammer, but he then slid underneath it like this was some baseball diamond and he was going into home base. Amakusa always thought of everything as a game and this was no different. He was up on his feet again, and in his hands were to massive looking pistols. They were longer and a bit bigger than the average pistol, and they even had an intricate design on them. Magic, that's what they had- magic as opposed to just brute strength that this big brute had.
Amakusa smirked, and soon he fired off a few rounds at the guy, waiting for Ange to create a distraction with the stakes before trying anything else. It was difficult since the angel had taken flight, going up overhead and soon the damn thing was shooting fireballs at them, one after another. Okay, Amakusa had to admit that this guy had some skill.
no subject
She put out her hands to the side. "Come, arise and forgive the sin.. the seven sisters of Purgatory!" Soon she felt the familiar magic surging through her, almost like some adrenaline boost, and one by one they appeared in the air, giggling all the same even though they were in a place like this. Ange glanced over towards them, yelling out a command. "Come on and get that thing..!" It didn't take long for the sisters to follow up, changing into their stake forms before hurling themselves towards the angel, intending to gouge him wherever they could to keep it further distracted from what Amakusa was doing. It was no problem for them, after all, since thye could easily fly around even towards where the angel was.
Ange noticed the fireballs just in time, barely jumping out of the way of the first one heading her way. At least she was fairly nimble, so while avoiding them was a pain, it wasn't impossible. At the very least she could avoid them on her own so Amakusa could focus on fighting - she glanced over towards the angel, where the stakes were already at work.
no subject
Perfect, Amakusa saw this opportunity to switch weapons and try to damage this guy. The silver-haired man threw his pistols up into the air, they spun and soon they had transformed into one weapon, a familiar looking one at that. Amakusa caught the sniper when it came down, and soon he was down on one knee again, taking aim. He looked through the scout, seeing that big guy's ugly face in full, and took the shot. One, two, three shots towards this guy, all of the bullets filled with magic, attempting to harm him. They all hit, but even so he wasn't going down. Dammit, they needed more power... but what exactly.
Amakusa stood back up, holding that sniper in his hands. He didn't want to transform into a werewolf now, he was bigger and more of a target that way- if this continued to not work, he might have to....but then he saw that angel turning towards Ange, and it was quickly running towards her. He ran over to her and saw that guy bring his hammer up and swing it down at her.
...The next thing Ange might notice, is a certain Amakusa right in front of her, his sniper above is head and the guy's hammer pressing against each other, he was using his sniper as some sort of shield as they clashed, and he knew he wasn't strong enough to keep this up, this guy was pushing his hammer down- attempt to make Amakusa yield first.
"The stakes Ange-san...!" he said through clenched teeth.
no subject
Then there was nothing, no impact of the hammer, and when she looked again she saw Amakusa standing there instead, blocking the hammer's path with his sniper. He must have used his above human speed to run over and save her, but.. even she could notice he wouldn't be able to keep this up forever, so after getting over her initial surprise she quickly nodded. If she could just distract that angel again, Amakusa could win in the battle again the hammer at least, so..
She didn't even have to say it this time, her desire to help Amakusa out here had enough burning intensity to make the stakes move on their own once she glanced at them. The seven of them started to work together, trying to gouge the angel's back and arms as he was too focused on trying to bring the hammer down.
no subject
While that was happening, Amakusa tossed his gun to the side, reached out and actually snatched that hammer away from the enemy, and he swung at him. He hit him across the face, and then over the head, and then he swung underneath and hit the guy yet again, managing to send him flying backwards and landing on his back.
With a smile he turned to look at her, "finish him!"

"Since you asked so nicely." Her voice was finally back more to her usual deadpan, but there was almost something slightly amused in it, maybe his victorious smile was just a little contagious. She shifted her gaze to the angel in the distance instead, making the sisters fly over there. And after one movement of her hand, her gaze somewhat cold, the sisters dropped to slam themselves as stakes into him - a few into the place where his heart should be, and another few right into his head.
no subject
He walked over to her, quickly looking her up and down, seeing if she was harmed. Looks like nothing was damaged, that was good. He had taken the blunt of attacks anyways, making sure she came out unscathed.
"You doing okay?" he asked her this while he checked himself over as well, brushing off his coat as he did. No injuries here either. That was good.
no subject
Because of this battle she had seen Amakusa's strength now though, and.. well, he definitely was much stronger and quicker than he had ever been as a human, even though he had already been an impressive bodyguard to start with, one of the best around. Ange couldn't help but feel glad he was at least here with her, rather than her having to face this alone.
She straightened her hair a little again. "You too? I think Bernkastel will only have more stuff like that waiting for us along the way." She wasn't going to make it easy on them, after all.
no subject
He went a bit closer to her, placing a hand on her cheek- and leaned in to kiss her on the forehead. He pulled away from her and looked down at her with a smile, "as long as you're okay, that's all I care about. You scared the hell out of me when I thought you were going to get crushed but that stupid hammer. But other than that, nice moves dodging that fire."
He grabbed her hand again and started to walk with her back the way they were going before.
no subject
At least Ange managed to shake off the blush as they started walking again. Slowly the scenery was at least growing on her a bit, enough to change from how she was frightened to just being regularly uncomfortable. She squeezed his hand a little though as they walked while holding hands, and moved her head a little to look at him. "It's okay. We can at least.. get through this together, right?" As long as they'd work together, stayed together - ah, this was a lovers' trial, after all. At the very least she could show that witch that her love for him went much beyond her stupid little plans.
no subject
It seemed like they had been walking forever, trudging through this tough terrain- just going straight and trying to keep a lookout for anymore enemies that might be around. That might have been the only one, considering the fact that the climb out of here would be worse than having to fight those things. At least, Amakusa thought so. Eventually, the two of them made it to what seemed like the edge of this place, and what was before them was a rocky climb upwards. Amakusa stopped, and he just looked up, the wall seemed to stretch all the way up and past the clouds.
Amakusa whistled as he stared, "boy oh boy, this is going to be tough," he turned to look down at her, "you're going on my back. Think you can hold on to me at least? You're going to have to get real close..."
no subject
At the suggestion she first blinked a bit cluelessly before getting embarassed again. Why would she have to go on his back, surely she could climb by herself, getting all close to him like that would be-- ... ah, but he was right, compared to his strength and endurance hers couldn't be compared. What if she would get tired halfway through and fell? Then the embarassment in holding on to him was a small sacrifice compared to that.
"Of course I can do something like that." There was almost something pouty in the way she said it out of embarassment, but she quickly shook her head to herself. They had already kissed before, so holding on to him would be nothing strange, right? She just had to keep telling herself that. "As long as you just focus on climbing, I'll hold on to you no matter what."
no subject
Oh nevermind, she agreed to it. He grinned at that, and then moved to crouch down in front of her. "Make sure you wrap your legs around me, I really need you to be secure since I won't be able to hold on to you like a proper piggyback," and feeling her so close against him would be a bonus as well. He chuckled to himself at the thought, especially since she already told him to just focus on climbing. Yeah yeah, master's orders and whatnot. He might make some jokes here and there about her chest though, definitely.
no subject
Ange stepped over to him, before wrapping her arms around him first - that part wasn't too bad yet, she could deal with that - but then as he moved up from crouching down again she wrapped her legs around him too, almost clinging to him like some sort of koala now. Sure, it still wasn't the most secure position, but she felt like she could at least manage to hold on enough to cover the way up like this. The only problem left was the embarassment about clinging this close to him (and yes, her chest was pressed against his back). For a moment she buried her face against his back, so he at least wouldn't have the satisfaction of her making embarassed faces as he would probably crack a lame joke sooner or later about all of this.
